The men's 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1998 European Athletics Championships was held on August 22 and 23, 1998 in the Népstadion in the Hungarian capital, Budapest .

Great Britain became European champion with Mark Hylton , Jamie Baulch , Iwan Thomas ( final ) and Mark Richardson ( final ) as well as Sean Baldock and Solomon Wariso, who were also used in the preliminary stages . Second place went to Poland with Piotr Rysiukiewicz , Tomasz Czubak ( final ), Piotr Haczek and Robert Maćkowiak ( final ) as well as Piotr Długosielski and Jacek Bocian who were also used in the preliminary run . Bronze went to Spain ( Antonio Andrés , Juan Trull , Andrés Martínez , David Canal ).

The runners only used in the run-up were given corresponding precious metal.
