Mathias Rusterholz

Mathias Rusterholz (born August 16, 1971 ) is a former Swiss athlete . His special route was the 400-meter run . Rusterholz won the bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994 , and the semifinals at the 1995 World Athletics Championships . He holds the Swiss record over 400 meters with 44.99 s, run on July 3, 1996 in Lausanne .

Mathias Rusterholz was a member of the Swiss 4 x 400 meter relay . At the 1998 European Athletics Championships , the Swiss 4 x 400 meter relay with Laurent Clerc, Kevin Widmer, Alain Rohr and Mathias Rusterholz came in fifth. With 3: 02.46 min, the relay team at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville with Laurent Clerc, Mathias Rusterholz, Alain Rohr and Marcel Schelbert set a new Swiss record.

At the 1996 Olympic Games , Rusterholz reached the quarter-finals in the 400-meter run, with the 4-by-400-meter relay he was eliminated in the semifinals. In the immediate preparation for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Mathias Rusterholz suffered a partial tear in his right Achilles tendon during training, which made it impossible to use the 4-by-400-meter relay and at the same time also meant the end of his career.

Today he works for the Federal Office for Sport BASPO in Magglingen.
