The 1964/65 European Cup Winners' Cup was the fifth draw of the competition. 30 club teams from 29 countries took part, including defending champions Sporting Lisbon , 23 reigning cup winners and six defeated cup finalists (Celtic Cork, FC Dundee, Steaua Bucharest, Dinamo Zagreb, AC Turin and FC Porto).

The final was played by West Ham United and TSV 1860 Munich at Wembley Stadium in London on May 19, 1965. West Ham won the game in front of 98,000 spectators with two goals from Alan Sealey 2-0.

The top scorer were Pierre Kerkhoffs from FC Lausanne-Sport and Václav Mašek and Gustav Mráz from Spartak Prague with six goals each.

mode

As usual, the participants played the winner in pure cup mode with home and return matches. If there was a tie after extra time in the second leg, a playoff was played on a neutral pitch. The away goals rule did not yet apply. The final was decided in a game on a neutral court. However, if the score was tied after extra time, a replay was scheduled because a penalty shoot-out was not yet planned.
