Stefan Bena ( Serbian - Cyrillic Стеван Бена ; born August 23, 1935 in Pančevo ; † May 6, 2012 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav football player . He played seven international matches for the Yugoslav national football team .
Career
society
Bena comes from the youth of Dinamo Pančevo , he made his debut for the club at the age of 17 in the competition team. In 1957 he moved to Vojvodina Novi Sad . Here he stayed for seven years and played over a hundred games for the club with the red and white jerseys. In 1964 he moved to Germany in the Bundesliga for TSV 1860 Munich and in 1965 played the final in the European Cup Winners' Cup against West Ham United (0: 2) for the "Löwen" . In the same year he moved to Hannover 96 . There he rose to one of the first foreign team captains in the Bundesliga in 1966 . For the Lower Saxony he played 48 games in the top division, with three goals.
In 1968 Bena went to the United States and played a season there for the Oakland Clippers in the North American Soccer League . Later he tied his football boots for the Dallas Tornado at short notice . He then returned to Yugoslavia, where he coached various clubs in the 1980s. In 1987 he moved abroad again when he went to Malaysia. With Selangor FA he won the country's championship twice in 1989 and 1990. He later worked in Saudi Arabia before retiring in 1995.
National team
Bena played seven A internationals for Yugoslavia and two B internationals between 1959 and 1961 . In 1960 he received a medal as an award for his fifth international match.
