Location and description

The place is in the southwest of Engelskirchen on the border with the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis and south of the Agger . Neighboring towns are Meisenbüchel , Loope , Distelhaus , Heide and Obermiebach, which is part of the Overath urban area .

Around 1280 the place was first mentioned under the name "Vurkenscheidt" in an income directory of the Siegburg Abbey.
