Ehreshoven is a part of the municipality Engelskirchen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany .

Location and description

The place is about seven kilometers west of Engelskirchen an der Agger .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document around 1280, namely "Pueri de Yrenshoven, Domina de Irenshoven and Henricus de Irenshove" (children, mistress and Heinrich von Ehreshoven) are listed in the register of income of the Siegburg Abbey .

In the overview of the division of the government district of Cologne from 1817, Ehreshoven named "Knight's seat, fruit mill, court and double iron hammers" with a number of souls of 39.

Attractions

In the village there is Ehreshoven Castle , a moated castle with a ladies' convent of the Rhenish knighthood and a commander of the Maltese . The Ehreshoven reservoir lies between Ehreshoven and the neighboring Vilkerath .

The railway line from Cologne to Marienheide ( KBS 459 ) runs through Ehreshoven . The line used to have the double-track Ehreshoven station , which is no longer served today. The station building is still standing.
