The place is in the southwest of Engelskirchen in the valley of the Agger . Neighboring towns are Dumpe , Perdt and Broich .

history

In 1413 the place was first mentioned under the name "Schyffvort" in a combing invoice for the Fronhof Lindlar. In the map of the Topographical Survey of the Rhineland from 1825, the place is marked on the enclosed courtyard with "Schiffarth" .

The name of the place goes back to the time before the construction of the first bridge over the Agger in Loope . Since there is a flat section of the Agger at this point, this ford was used to cross the river.
