The place is approx. 4.5 km from the main town Engelskirchen and approx. 0.5 km from Loope. Unterbüchel is in the Agger valley . Neighboring towns are Loope and Oberschelmerath .

history

In 1413 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document in the "Combing Register for Fronhof Lindlar".

House no.3 is a listed building and dates from 1756.

The name Büchel is a hallway designation and means "hill, higher hall, sa Bühel"

According to oral tradition, the hamlet of Büchel was founded with 5 houses from around 1750. Around 4 hectares of land belonged to all houses (of which 2 hectares were forest and 2 hectares were meadows and arable land). The land was divided into 5 small parcels of the same type, depending on the quality of the soil. This was sufficient for self-sufficiency in agriculture (around 2 cows, small livestock and arable farming). The small farms were later operated as part-time jobs. The last part-time business was given up around 1970. The cultivated areas were sold or leased to a large agricultural enterprise.

In 1830, 41 residents lived in "Unterst Büchel", the hamlet was called a farm. The drinking water was initially supplied via a farm well, later the farm community founded a self-operated drinking water network.

The cross of the court community also dates from this time.

In 1960, Unterbüchel was connected to the public drinking water network. At the same time the access road was paved. In 2008, Unterbüchel was connected to the public sewage network (previously three-chamber pits with trickling). In 2010, Unterbüchel consisted of 9 houses. The 5 founding houses from 1750 are still there and renovated, one of which was rebuilt after a fire around 1920.
