Oberschelmerath is a place in Engelskirchen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ) and is now part of Loope .

Location and description

The place is in the southwest of Engelskirchen in the valley of the Agger . Neighboring places are Loope , Unterschelmerath , Erlenhof and Unterbüchel .

history

In 1413 the combing register for Fronhof Lindlar names the place with the place name "Schelmenroede". In the map Topographical Survey of the Rhineland from 1825 Unter- and Oberschelmenrath are recorded with the common place name Schelmenrath. From the Prussian first recording in 1845 the place name Oberschelmenrath is used.
