Location of Stiefelhagen in Engelskirchen

Stiefelhagen is a village in Engelskirchen in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The place is about 6.4 km from the main town Engelskirchen. The high altitude on the southern slope of the narrowest part of the Aggertal ensures a sunny but humid climate. The next center for shopping, doctor visits and other everyday errands is the formerly independent village of Ründeroth . In Stiefelhagen two districts can be distinguished: the historic Alt-Stiefelhagen, which only consists of the Stiefelhagener Strasse, and the so-called Neu-Stiefelhagen (Hermannstrasse and Oskarstrasse, named after the company owners and builders of the settlement at the time), a former workers' settlement that is still today existing stainless steel plant Dörrenberg Edelstahl.

Village community

In the part of the village Alt-Stiefelhagen there is an active community life. Men, women and children organize communal festivities such as the annual summer festival, May festival, Easter festival and other fixed items in the Stiefelhagen festival calendar.

The village community "Stiefeler Möll" has already taken part in the Ründerother and Engelskirchen carnival parades with its own float.

Even newcomers are quickly integrated into the community if they are interested. For families with children in particular, life in Stiefelhagen is comparatively idyllic.

So far there have been the following kings from Stiefelhagen: 1966 Ernst Engels, 1967 Erwin Voth, 1970 Rolf Göckel, 1977 Willi Ahlefelder and 1981 Paul Elendt. After a long time, namely in 2000, Heinz Scherer managed to bring the royal dignity back to Stiefelhagen. He was followed by Axel Fuchs in 2001 and Dietmar Everding in 2005. Dirk “Paul” Paschke had luck on his side in 2007 and became the 9th king of the village of Stiefelhagen. The current King of the Year 2010 comes back from the village, much to the delight of the Stiefelhagen residents. His name is Thomas Passberger.
