Kaltenbach is a place in the municipality of Engelskirchen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany .
Location and description
The place is located around three kilometers southeast of Engelskirchen between the Schimmelhau mountain top ( 357 m above sea level ) and the Hohe Warte viewpoint ( 360 m above sea level ) and can be reached via the Engelskirchen junction of the Autobahn 4 .

First mention
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1183/87, namely "Mention of silver mining in Caldinbeche in the miracle stories of St. Anno."

In Kaltenbach, mining saw its last heyday in the middle of the 19th century, only to be slowly abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century. During this time the Neumoresnet plant near Engelskirchen Kaltenbach was opened, which was operated between 1826 and 1882.
