Location and description

The place is northeast of Engelskirchen in the valley of the Walbaches . Neighboring towns are Ründeroth and Schnellenbach . The nature reserve Altenberg im Walbachtal with the Aggertal cave is located southwest of the village.

history

In 1413 the combing register for Fronhof Lindlar names the place with the place name "Waelbech" . In the Prussian first recording from 1845, Walbach is recorded in an enclosed courtyard. The place is named with the spelling "Wallbach" . From the topographic map of 1896 onwards, the spelling Walbach, which is common today, is used.
