European Cup Winners' Cup 1994/95

The 1995/96 European Cup Winners 'Cup was the 36th edition of the European Cup Winners' Cup. 48 club teams from 47 countries took part, including defending champions Real Saragossa , 38 national cup winners and 9 defeated cup finalists (FC Dinamo Batumi, AEK Athens, AC Parma, FK Obilić, FK Žalgiris Vilnius, Sileks Kratovo, GKS Katowice, Váci FC and DAG Liepāja) . For the first time, teams represented the now independent ex-USSR states Azerbaijan , Armenia , Georgia and from the former Yugoslav republics of Macedonia and Serbia and Montenegro . Croatia did not send a team this season.

DFB Cup winners Borussia Mönchengladbach from Germany, ÖFB Cup winners SK Rapid Wien from Austria , Cup winners FC Sion from Switzerland and Cup winners FC Vaduz from Liechtenstein competed.

The final in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels was won 1-0 by Paris Saint-Germain against Rapid Vienna, and for the first time a team from France won this competition.

The top scorer was the Czech Petr Samec from SK Hradec Králové with 9 goals.

mode

As usual, the participants played the winner in pure cup mode with home and return matches. If there was a tie after both games, the number of goals scored away decided ( away goal rule ). If their number was also the same, extra time took place in the second leg, in which the away goals rule also applied. If there was still a tie at the end of extra time, a penalty shoot- out was carried out. The final was decided in a game on a neutral court. In the event of a tie after extra time, the winner would also have been determined in a penalty shoot-out.

The first leg took place on 9/10. August, the second leg on 22./24. August 1995.
