Petr Samec (born February 14, 1964 in Frýdek-Místek ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .

Player career

Petr Samec played for NHKG Ostrava and Sokol Hrabůvka in his youth. He did his military service from 1984 to 1986 at RH Planá. In the 1986/97 season he was in the squad of runner-up TJ Vítkovice, but was not used. The striker then returned to NHKG Ostrava, but moved on to Baník Havířov after just half a year. In early 1990 Samec moved to Sigma Olomouc in the first division and came in the course of the second half of the season on four substitutions. He spent the following season in Havířov again . In the summer of 1991 he was committed by the first division club Dynamo České Budějovice , for which he played 14 games and scored his first league goal. In the second half of the 1991/92 season, the Wandervogel played for Gera Drnovice .

Samec only made his breakthrough at Union Cheb when he was 29. In the 1992/93 season he helped the club to rise to the newly founded Czech first division, in the following two seasons 1993/94 and 1994/95 he met 16 times in 58 games.

Due to his good form, Petr Samec played for his first international match on February 23, 1994 at the age of 30, the Czech Republic beat Turkey 4-1, Samec played eight minutes. In his only international match over 90 minutes, a 4-1 against Finland on March 8, 1995, the attacker scored two goals.

In the 1995/96 season Samec played for SKP Hradec Králové , from 1996 to December 2000 for Baník Ostrava . With nine goals, including seven against first-round opponents FC Vaduz , Samec was the top scorer in the 1995/96 European Cup Winners' Cup .

The aging striker returned to outstanding form in 1997/98, when he scored eleven goals in 23 games for Ostrava. In December 2000 he was sorted out at Baník Ostrava and played in the second half of the 2000/01 season for FC Roubina Dolní Kounice . He then went on to hunt goals for FC Hlučín until 2003 , and in the 2005/06 season he also played for the sixth division Sokol Krasné Pole.

Coaching career

Samec made his first coaching experience in the 2002/03 season as an assistant coach at FC Hlučín, and from April 2003 he was head coach there. In the 2004/05 season he looked after the B-team of the SFC Opava , then he was again an assistant in Hlučín . For the 2007/08 season he was again the main coach at FC Hlučín in the 2nd division . Despite the promotion to the 2nd division, his contract was not renewed, after which Samec went to Qatar in the summer of 2009 to coach Al Fahaheel's junior team. After a year he returned to the Czech Republic and took over the coaching position at the fourth division Slavia Orlová.
