Mascarenhas (soccer player)
Mascarenhas (born: Domingos António da Silva ; born April 28, 1937 in Vila Salazar , Angola ; † August 25, 2015 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese football player .
Mascarenhas joined Sporting Lisbon in 1962 from FC Barreirense . With Sporting he won the Portuguese Cup in 1963 and the European Cup Winners' Cup a year later . Mascarenhas was the top scorer with eleven goals and thus played a major role in this success. He scored six of these eleven goals in a 16-1 win over Cypriot representative APOEL Nicosia . He holds the record for the most goals scored in a European game to this day. In 1965 Mascarenhas left the green and white again; by this time he had scored 80 goals in 107 games.
