Peter Leslie Osgood (born February 20, 1947 in Windsor , England , † March 1, 2006 in Slough , England) was an English football player who became known at Chelsea FC and Southampton FC .

Osgood made his debut in 1964 at the age of 17 with the London club Chelsea, where he scored two goals in his first game. Throughout his tenure at Chelsea, until 1974, he played 289 games and scored 105 goals. he was called the King of Stamford Bridge by his fans . He then moved to Southampton FC and continued his success there until 1978 in 126 games with 28 goals. In 1976 he defeated the "Saints" Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup .

For the English national team Osgood played four times, but without scoring. His first international game was against Belgium in 1970 . Then he was also part of the squad for the 1970 World Cup . In the preliminary round games against Czechoslovakia and Romania he was substituted on.

In the U-23 team, he scored four goals in six games. After his stint at Southampton, he played for Norwich City for around a month and tried his luck in the United States with Philadelphia Fury for nine months before retiring at Chelsea.

Peter Osgood died in hospital on March 1, 2006 after collapsing at his uncle's funeral.
