Christian Stumpf (born December 24, 1966 in Linz ), "The Buffalo" is a former Austrian national soccer player .
The future national player Christian Stumpf started playing football at an early age and joined his home club Union Edelweiß Linz at the age of four , where he also spent his entire youth. In 1985 the striker moved to SK VOEST Linz where he played as a professional from 1988. In 1995 Christian Stumpf had made the biggest step in his career up to then at SK Rapid Wien , where he played until 1998. With the Hütteldorfer he became champions and shone as Carsten Jancker's strike partner in the European Cup.
His goals against Sporting Lisbon , Dynamo Moscow and Feyenoord Rotterdam became famous on the way to the European Cup final in Brussels in 1996, where the Rapidler had to admit defeat to Paris Saint-Germain . During this time, the "buffalo" also made two appearances in the national team and scored a goal against Northern Ireland .
After a few years as assistant coach at LASK , Christian Stumpf was in charge of the Union Edelweiß Linz team from 2009 to 2018 , which most recently played under his leadership in the fourth-class Upper Austrian Upper Austrian League.
