Samuel Koejoe (born August 17, 1974 in Paramaribo , Suriname ) is a former Dutch football player who is also a national of Suriname.

Career

Born in the capital of Suriname, "Sammy" Koejoe has played in the youth team at DWS Amsterdam since 1988 . He stayed with the Dutch club until 1996 before moving to the second Austrian league for SC Austria Lustenau . In his first season he played 14 games for Vorarlberg and scored twelve goals. At the end of the season there was promotion to the Bundesliga with the championship in the 2nd division . Despite 29 appearances, the center forward only scored seven goals and switched to league rivals SV Austria Salzburg . In Salzburg the brawny player scored 14 goals in 45 games up to the winter break of 1999/2000. This was followed by a detour to England to the Queens Park Rangers . Koejoe couldn't get along with the English style of play. In 18 months he only played 13 times from the start. In a total of 33 games he only scored three goals and he rejoined Austria Lustenau , where he only made ten appearances and scored four goals.

His breakthrough in Austrian football should come in the 2002/03 season. At the newly founded FC Wacker Tirol he played in the West Regional Football League , scored 36 goals in 30 games and thus had a large share in the championship title. He was also one of the best players in the following season. In the second Austrian league, he scored 22 goals in 26 appearances, which earned him the title of top scorer . At the same time, he was honored with the Bruno as the best player in the second division and was able to celebrate the march into the Bundesliga with the Tyroleans. He also started successfully in the first division in the 2004/05 season. Twelve goals in 21 games were recorded before he moved to the German Bundesliga for 300,000 euros to the relegation-threatened SC Freiburg . In the twelve games that he played in the second half of the 2004/05 season for the Breisgauer, he scored two goals and had to go to the second division with the club.

Even in the second division, the technically limited Dutchman could not prevail against the Freiburg team. In the 2005/06 season he came to 24 missions, but twelve of them as a substitute (5 goals). In the 2006 summer break, Koejoe therefore moved to league rivals Eintracht Braunschweig for free . But here, too, Koejoe did not show any scoring qualities. After the end of the first half of the season Koejoe only made 8 appearances (6 substitutions and 2 substitutions), in which he did not score a goal. On January 8, 2007, the player and the Lions agreed on a termination agreement. He then moved to the German regional league team Dynamo Dresden , which he should help to promote. In the 2007/08 season, Samuel Koejoe played for the club FSV Frankfurt , which had been promoted to the regional league and which made it through to the 2nd Bundesliga this season. In June 2008 he returned to FC Wacker Innsbruck, who are now playing in the second highest division .

After his return to Innsbruck he was able to convince several times at the beginning of the 2008/09 season and scored two goals in five games as a noble joker. As the season progressed, however, he was unable to continue his earlier successes with the Innsbruck team and in spring 2009 was mostly only second choice or not at all in the squad. On April 23, 2009 it was finally announced that his contract would not be renewed at the end of the season.
