Lokomotiv Sofia (officially: PFK (Profesionalen futbolen klub) Lokomotiw Sofia (ПФК Локомотив София)) is a professional football and ice hockey club from Sofia , Bulgaria .

The club was founded in 1929 as "ZSK Sofia", later changed the name to "Energia Sofia", under which they played until 1944. The first championship of FK Lokomotiwe Sofia fell in the time as "ZSK Sofia" in 1940, when the Bulgarian champions were played for the second time in Bulgarian football history in a league system and not in the cup mode , as was usual up to now.

The name of the association was then changed to "SK Lokomotiwe Sofia" and lasted until 1949. In 1945 the second championship could be won, but it was decided in playoffs again. In addition, the team was able to win the newly introduced Soviet Army Cup in 1948 .

The subsequent club name "DSO Torpedo Sofia" only lasted two seasons and from 1951 the club management took the name "FD Lokomotiwe Sofia". After two more seasons, the Soviet Army Cup could be won again, but it took more than a decade until 1964 when the third Bulgarian championship was a great success.

After the merger with city rivals “FD Slawia Sofia” in 1969, the common name “ZSK Slawia Sofia” was adopted. This merger only lasted two years and was dissolved again into "DFS Slawia Sofia" and "DFS Lokomotiwe Sofia". As "DFS Lokomotiwe Sofia" the fourth and for the time being the last championship was won in 1978 and the third Soviet Army Cup in 1982.

In 1986 the club received its still valid name "FK Lokomotiwe Sofia". The Bulgarian Cup, which was only reintroduced in the 1980/81 season, was the last title win to date in 1995.
