Enrico Bräunig

Enrico Bräunig (born May 5, 1971 in Schöneck / Vogtland ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2004 to 2009 he was a member of the Saxon State Parliament and from 2010 to 2012 mayor of Klingenthal .

Life and work

After high school in Klingenthal and military service, Bräunig completed an apprenticeship as a chef in Stoke-on-Trent (United Kingdom). From 1993 he worked as a police officer in the federal police , from 1999 to 2002 he worked for the UN mission in Kosovo . After serving in the Saxon state parliament from 2004 to 2009, he returned to the Federal Police in 2009.

Enrico Bräunig is married and has two children.

Political career

In 2003 Bräunig joined the Saxon SPD . He was deputy chairman of the SPD district association Vogtland.

In the 2004 state elections , he was elected to the Saxon state parliament via the SPD state list. In the district election in 2008 he missed a mandate in the district assembly of the Vogtlandkreis , which was enlarged by the city of Plauen , but was elected to the city council of Klingenthal in the local election on June 7, 2009 . In the state elections in 2009 , he missed re-entry into the state parliament due to the poor result of the SPD in 16th place on the list.

In Saxony state parliament he was in the fourth legislature the constitutional, legislative and European Affairs Committee Deputy Chairman and the Committee on Internal Affairs , the Budget and Finance Committee and the second inquiry committee of the fourth term of. On March 7, 2010, Enrico Bräunig was elected full-time mayor of his hometown Klingenthal, which he assumed on April 1, 2010. In the course of his election he could not hope for a vote of the SPD in the city council, since he was the only SPD council member to leave the city council by being elected mayor. His term of office ended prematurely on December 31, 2012 with the merger of Klingenthal and Zwota . Bräunig then declared that he would no longer run for the election of the mayor. His successor was Thomas Hennig (CDU).

After that, he wanted to succeed Rolf Schwanitz as a direct candidate for the 2013 federal election. In the election of the direct candidate of the SPD Vogtland on February 23, 2013, the three candidates Enrico Bräunig, Nicole Schwab and Benjamin Zabel fought for the candidacy. However, Bräunig came in 3rd place (12 votes) and therefore had to pass Benjamin Zabel (32 votes) as a candidate for the Bundestag .

In the state elections in 2014, Bräunig ran again in the Vogtland 3 constituency and through the state list of his party, but he did not manage to return to the state parliament.

Since 2015 he has been chairman of the Klingenthal local SPD association.
