Soviet Army Cup
The Soviet Army Cup was a Bulgarian football - cup competition , between 1946 and 1990 was played. After the end of the Second World War, it replaced the tsar's cup, which had been held up until then . From the 1980/81 season, the revived Bulgarian Cup was played in parallel . From 1961 to 1982 the winner of the Soviet Army Cup qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup , after which this right was transferred to the winner of the Bulgarian Cup.
The Soviet Army Cup was played in the knockout system , with a replay being scheduled for a game that did not find a winner after 90 minutes and even after the subsequent extra time. If this replay ended in a draw, this rule continued. Since this also applied to the final, it came about in 1949 and 1950 that the final had to be repeated twice.
