The PFC Pirin 1922 Blagoevgrad , ( Bulgarian Професионален футболен клуб пирин 1922 Благоевград ), is a Bulgarian football club from Blagoevgrad . The club plays in the top division of the country, the A Grupa . The club colors are green and white.
history
The association was founded in 1922 as Granit Stara Kresna. The club later renamed itself Makedonska Slawa (Bulgarian Македонска слава, German: Macedonian fame) and played under this name in the Bulgarian top division in the early 2000s. The club later merged with the other Pirin Blagoevgrad. In 2005 the merged club returned to the first division, but had to go back to the Bulgarian second division due to a license withdrawal and lack of sporting success, from which they returned to the A Grupa as champions in 2006/07 . After the 2010/11 season , Blagoevgrad was again banned from Bulgarian professional football for license violations and transferred to the third-class W Grupa-Südwest . From this, the club rose again in 2014 to the second division, with the second place in the table succeeded there at the end of the season in the first division.
The home of the club is the Christo Botew Stadium with 7,500 seats. The club is sponsored by the Pirinsko Brewery .
The name of the club is derived from the Pirin Mountains.
