Fritz Mussehl

Friedrich "Fritz" Leberecht Mussehl (born March 4, 1885 in Wendisch-Buchholz ; † April 15, 1965 in Berlin-Wannsee ) was a German administrative lawyer, Reich Commissioner , State Secretary and, during the Nazi era, Vice President of the Reich Audit Office.

Life

Mussehl grew up in Tempelhof near Berlin, where his father was mayor (Mussehlstrasse). After graduating from the Royal Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Berlin , he studied law in Jena ( Fuchs at Corps Thuringia Jena ) and Berlin .

Prussian State Service

In 1907 he became a court trainee, in 1912 a court assessor. In 1914 he was employed by the Royal Prussian Settlement Commission in Posen . Since 1917 government assessor, he was appointed to the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Domains in 1919. In 1920 he became a councilor and deputy chairman of the state treasury. Promoted to Ministerialrat in 1921, he became a deputy member of the Reichsrat . In 1930 he became Commissioner for Osthilfe in Königsberg , but returned to the Ministry as Ministerial Director in 1931 .

At the Prussian strike he was appointed by the Papen government in July 1932 as commissioner for the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture. In October of the same year he was appointed State Secretary in the Reich Ministry of Food.

When the National Socialists came to power in January 1933 and Alfred Hugenberg took over the agricultural department, Mussehl had to relinquish his post to the Pomeranian Landbund functionary Hansjoachim von Rohr . He moved to the Prussian Chamber of Accounts as State Finance Councilor and was appointed Vice President of the Reich Audit Office in 1934. In 1942 he was a member of the balance commission . On August 1, 1944, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the War Merit Cross with Swords.

From May 13, 1945 to July 12, 1954 he was imprisoned in the Soviet Zone and GDR , including in Buchenwald and Waldheim .

Others

From 1905 Mussehl was a member, later an honorary member, of the Corps Normannia Berlin . In 1922 he and other Berlin Corps students were among the supporters of the reconstituted Corps Frankonia Prague , which awarded him the ribbon in 1925 and honorary membership in 1956.

From 1960 to 1962 he was the master of the lawless society in Berlin .
