The Lokomotiw Stadium ( Bulgarian : Стадион "Локомотив") is a multifunctional stadium with an athletics facility in the Bulgarian capital Sofia in the Nadezhda district .

history

The stadium was built in 1984 and 1985 and opened in the latter year. The venue is the sporting home of the Bulgarian football club Lokomotiv Sofia . The club currently plays in the first division, the A Grupa . The stadium holds 22,000 spectators with 17,500 seats and 3,500 standing places. It consists of the only partially covered, individual spectator tier in the west and the completely covered grandstand, which runs in a semicircle from the gate in the north over the east side to the south behind the other gate. The plastic seats are distributed across the stands in the club colors red and black. In 2000 the stadium was renovated. The 2001 Bulgarian Men's Cup Final was held at the Lokomotiw Stadium.
