Laurent Fournier (born September 14, 1964 in Lyon ) is a former French football player and current coach . He is not related to his colleague and namesake Hubert Fournier .
Player career
In his youth, Fournier played in the youth of a football club in Villeurbanne . In 1980 he began his professional career at Olympique Lyon . There he played eight years before moving to local rivals AS Saint-Étienne . Just two years later, Fournier went to Olympique Marseille , with whom he was in the 1991 final of the European Cup. A year later, Fournier moved to Paris Saint-Germain . It held him there for three years before moving to Girondins Bordeaux in 1994 . Another year later, Fournier moved back to Paris SG. With the Parisians he won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1996 ; in the final was Rapid Vienna 1: defeated 0th In that game, Fournier was replaced by Francis Llacer after 78 minutes. Just three years later he went to SC Bastia , where he ended his career a year later. Fournier made three appearances for the French national team in his career.
Coaching career
During his time in Bastia he already held the position of coach. In the 2002/03 season he was athletic director at Pacy Vallée-d'Eure Football . From 2003 to February 2005 he was the coach of the second team of Paris SG and then took over the post of coach of the professional team. There it held him until December 27, 2005. After a two-year hiatus, Fournier took over as coach at Olympique Nîmes on October 2, 2007 , but the post was vacated again on December 15 of the same year. After another long break, he took over the helm at US Créteil at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . However, this post was vacated on June 8, 2010, to accept the post at the third division Racing Strasbourg a day later . He left this in the summer of 2011 and then signed with AJ Auxerre . Laurent Fournier has been coaching the third division Red Star since summer 2013 .
