Kenneth "Ken" Brown (born February 16, 1934 in London ) is a former English football player and coach . As a player, he won the FA Cup with West Ham United in 1964 and the 1964/65 European Cup Winners' Cup a year later .
Player career
West Ham United (1951-1967)
After promotion to the Football League First Division in the 1957/58 season, Ken Brown played with his team in the top English division until 1967. In 1964 he won the FA Cup with his team-mates Bobby Moore , John Bond and Geoff Hurst with a 3-2 final win over Preston North End . In the following year, West Ham secured the title in the 1964/65 European Cup Winners' Cup with a 2-0 win over German cup winners TSV 1860 Munich . In 1967 he followed his long-time teammate John Bond and moved to third division Torquay United , where he spent two seasons.
Coaching career
Norwich City (1980-1987)
In 1970 he took over the post of assistant coach at AFC Bournemouth coached by John Bond and rose in 1971 to the third division. After two years in this division, he moved on November 27, 1973 together with Bond to the first division club Norwich City and spent the following seven years in the same position. After moving from Bond to Manchester City , he took over the position of head coach on November 1, 1980. However, the start did not succeed, rather City rose from the First Division 1980/81 to the second division at the end of the season . In 1982 he achieved direct promotion with his team and secured relegation in 1982/83 . In 1985 he was relegated with Norwich for the second time, but won the League Cup with a 1-0 win over AFC Sunderland . The return to the First Division 1986/87 succeeded the climber with the fifth place in the table. After a false start in the subsequent season, Ken Brown was released on November 9, 1987 after fourteen years in Norwich .
After a short term at Shrewsbury Town , he moved to the second division club Plymouth Argyle on July 6, 1988 . After an eighteenth place in the first season, he was released in the second half of the Second Division 1989/90 on February 6, 1990.
