The women's 1,500-meter run at the 1998 European Athletics Championships was held on August 21 and 23, 1998 in the Népstadion in the Hungarian capital, Budapest .

The European champion was the Russian Olympic champion in 1996 Svetlana Masterkova . Second place went to the Portuguese world champion from 1997 and World Cup third from 1995, Carla Sacramento . Bronze went to Anita Weyermann from Switzerland, who was third in the 1997 World Cup .
