The 1500 Meters of women in the 2014 European Athletics Championships was on the 12th and 15th of August 2014 in the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.

The European champion was Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands , who one day later also won silver over 5000 meters . The second place went to the for Sweden taking off reigning world champion and Olympic bronze medalist from 2012 Abeba Aregawi . Bronze went to the Briton Laura Weightman .

doping

There were two doping cases in this competition:

  • The Ukrainian Hanna Mishchenko , who was eliminated in the first run, was banned for two years until August 2017 due to irregularities in her biological passport . Theirs since June 28, 2012 have been canceled.
  • The Turkish woman Gamze Bulut - eliminated in the second preliminary run - was banned for doping until May 29, 2020.
