The women's 1,500-meter run at the 1990 European Athletics Championships was held on August 30 and September 1, 1990 in the Poljud stadium in Split .

The European champion was the Yugoslav Snezana Pajkić . She won ahead of Ellen Kießling from the GDR. Bronze went to Sandra Gasser from Switzerland .

Preliminary round

August 30, 1990

The preliminary round was held in two runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the final. The first run was the much faster of these two races. All eight participants from this first heat qualified for the final, while from the second only the top four athletes reached the final.
