The men's triple jump at the 1990 European Athletics Championships was held on August 30 and 31, 1990 in the Poljud Stadium in Split .

With gold and bronze, the Soviet three-jumpers won two medals in this competition. European champion was Leonid Voloshin . Second place went to the Bulgarian Christo Markow , who, as defending champion, world champion in 1987 and Olympic champion in 1988, had won all competitions at the major international championships since 1986. Bronze went to the Olympic runner-up in 1988 Igor Lapschin .

Nineteen participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 16.60 m. Twelve three-jumpers exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). These athletes contested the final together on the following day.
