The men's triple jump at the European Athletics Championships in 1969 was held on September 16 and 17, 1969 in the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens .

The 1968 Olympic champion Viktor Saneyev from the Soviet Union became European champion . Second place went to the Hungarian Zoltán Cziffra. Bronze went to the GDR athlete Klaus Neumann .

qualification

Sixteen participants competed in two groups for a qualifying round. The qualifying distance for direct entry into the final was 16.10 m. Eleven athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue), the final field was filled with the next best placed athlete to twelve jumpers (highlighted in light green). So finally 16.04 m was enough for the final.
