The women's javelin at the European Athletics Championships 1969 was held on September 18, 1969 in Athens' Karaiskakis Stadium .
There was a Hungarian double victory here. The European champion was the 1968 Olympic champion Angéla Ránky - the year before she had started under her name Angéla Németh. Magda Vidos won the silver medal. Bronze went to the Soviet thrower Walentina Ewert.

European champion Angéla Ránky improved the existing EM record in the final on September 18 by six centimeters to 59.76 m.

As in all other throwing disciplines, the intended qualification - planned in the javelin throw for September 17, 1969, 10:00 a.m. - was omitted due to the small number of athletes. Only ten female throwers took part.
