The men's 5000 meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1969 was held on September 19, 1969 in Athens' Karaiskakis Stadium .
In this competition, Great Britain won two medals with gold and bronze. European champion was Ian Stewart . He won ahead of the Soviet runner Raschid Sharafetdinov. Bronze went to Alan Blinston.
