The men's 5000-meter race at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held on June 27, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .
European champion was the British double European champion from 2010 ( 5000 / 10,000 meters ), world champion from 2011 over 5000 meters and runner-up world champion from 2011 over 10,000 meters Mohamed Farah . The German Arne Gabius won the silver medal. Bronze went to the native Kenyan Polat Kemboi Arıkan , who started for Turkey , who had won the 10,000 meter race here three days earlier.
