24 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The height for the direct entry into the final was 1.92 m. After it was clear that 1.90 m would be enough, no athlete even went to the actual qualification level. The twelve best athletes reached the final (highlighted in light green). Eleven of them had jumped six feet. In addition, a jumper qualified who had jumped 1.87 m without any unsuccessful attempt.
