The women's long jump at the European Athletics Championships 2012 was held on June 27th and 28th, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .
European champion was the French Éloyse Lesueur . She won in front of the Belarusian Wolha Sudarawa . Bronze went to the Norwegian Margrethe Renstrøm .

doping
There was one doping case in this competition: Karin Melis Mey ( TUR ),
originally placed fifth , was disqualified due to a positive doping test.
Two athletes in particular were disadvantaged as a result:
- The Russian Svetlana Birjukowa would have allowed three more attempts in the final as eighth place.
- The Latvian Lauma Grīva would have been allowed to compete in the final.
Wind conditions
In the following summary of results, the wind conditions for the respective jumps are named. The permitted limit is two meters per second. With stronger wind support, the distance will be counted for the competition, but will not be included in the lists of records and the best.

June 27, 2012, 9:00 a.m.
Thirty participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 6.65 m. Three athletes, including Karin Melis Mey, who was later disqualified for doping fraud, exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the nine athletes placed next to twelve jumpers (highlighted in light green). So finally 6.39 m was enough for the final.
