Māra Grīva gained her first international experience at the Student World Games in Belgrade in 2009 , where he was eliminated in qualifying in the triple jump, as well as in the long jump at the U23 European Championships in Kaunas a short time later. Two years later she reached fifth place in the long jump and ninth place in the triple jump at the U23 European Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic . At the Student World Games in Shenzhen , she was twelfth in the long jump and eliminated in the triple jump in qualification. In 2012 she qualified in the long jump for the European Championships in Helsinki , where she was eliminated with 6.00 m in the qualification. In 2013, the Ventspils Augstskola student took eighth place in the long jump and twelfth in the triple jump at the Summer Universiade in Kazan . Four years later she won the bronze medal in the triple jump at the Student World Games in Taipei and finished eighth in the long jump.
So far she has been five times Latvian champion in the long and triple jump and three times in the hall. Her older sister Lauma Grīva is also a successful long jumper.
