qualification

August 23, 1946

The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 5.00 m. Eleven athletes reached or exceeded this distance. The field of finalists was not increased to twelve participants as it is today. The distances achieved in the qualification were not counted for the final result like today.

However, there are inconsistencies that appear equally in the sources used here. In fact, eleven long jumpers are named who exceeded or reached the required distance in qualification. In fact, eleven athletes who took part in the final are also named. There are, however, two differences in name. The athletes Stanisława Walasiewicz (tenth) and Dora Gardner (eleventh) who are listed in the qualification and who have qualified for the final do not appear in the results table for the final. Instead, there are two jumpers, silver medalist Lidija Gaile and eleventh-placed Milly Ludwig, who are not mentioned in the qualification.

The nine jumpers who undisputedly reached the final are marked in light blue.

Stanislawa Walasiewicz - it's not quite clear whether it is excreted in tenth in qualifying or whether they may not even on the long jump competition
