The women's long jump at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 6th and 7th, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

In this competition there was a double victory for the Romanian long jumpers. World record holder Vali Ionescu became European champion . Second place went to Anișoara Cușmir , later Anișoara Stanciu. Bronze went to Jelena Iwanowa from the USSR.

qualification

September 6, 1982

21 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 6.60 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve long jumpers (highlighted in light green). So finally 6.45 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
