The men's javelin throw at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 6 and 7, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

In this competition, the javelin throwers from the GDR won two gold and bronze medals. Uwe Hohn became European champion . He won ahead of the Soviet athlete Heino Puuste . Bronze went to Detlef Michel .
