The men's javelin at the 1934 European Athletics Championships was held on September 7, 1934 in the Turin Stadio Benito Mussolini .

There was a Finnish one-two. European champion was Matti Järvinen . With his victory distance he set a new world record . Matti Sippala won the silver medal. Bronze went to the Estonian Gustav Sule .

Since only eight athletes took part in the javelin throw, the competitors entered the finals without prior qualification. It is not clear whether after the third round, as was common at the Olympic Games, with the best six throwers in a final with three more rounds.

At the Olympic Games during this period, it was common practice in the jumping and throwing disciplines to first conduct a qualifying round on the morning of the competition day if the number of participants was not too small. This preliminary round was held in two groups. The final with the qualified athletes usually took place in the afternoon of the same day.
