On the IAAF page with the discus result there are two lists of results: one with the qualification results and one with the final result. September 8, 1934 is given as the date for both parts of the competition. In the overview of the qualification, however, only those athletes are listed who were not in the final. Presumably, therefore, it is a pure list of the seven throwers eliminated in the qualification. The qualification performances and placements of the eleven participants who reached the final are not listed. In addition to the discus throw, there was only one other technical discipline at these European Championships with a qualification, that was the pole vault, according to the presentation on the IAAF website . There, too, the process is not clear from the overviews offered.

At the Olympic Games during this period, it was common practice in the jumping and throwing disciplines to first conduct a qualifying round on the morning of the competition day if the number of participants was not too small. However, this preliminary round was held in two groups. The final usually took place in the afternoon of the same day.

Zygmunt Hejasz was eliminated in qualification with 42.50 m
