Zygmunt Heljasz
Zygmunt Heljasz (born September 21, 1908 in Posen ; † June 12, 1963 ibid.) Was a Polish shot putter and discus thrower .
In 1932 he set a world record in the shot put with 16.05 m . At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he came seventh in the shot put and 13th in the discus throw .
At the European Athletics Championships in Turin in 1934 , he was seventh in the shot put and was eliminated in the qualifying discus throw.
He was Polish champion in the shot put seven times (1928-1934), three times in the discus throw (1931, 1932, 1935) and once in the hammer throw (1931). In 1933 and 1934 he became English champion in the shot put. During the Second World War he was imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen and Groß-Rosen concentration camps. After the war he trained athletes in Szczecin .
