Paul Winter (born February 6, 1906 in Rappoltsweiler , German Empire , † February 22, 1992 in Usson-du-Poitou , France ) was a French discus thrower .

Life

The athlete from Alsace was French champion in 1931, 1933, 1935 and 1937. He set three French discus records, the last with 50.71 meters in 1932. As a French record, this distance was not exceeded until 1957.

At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Paul Winter finished third with 47.85 meters behind the two Americans John Anderson and Henri LaBorde . In the shot put he finished 13.14 meters with 13.14 meters. Two years later at the European Athletics Championships in Turin in 1934 Winter won silver with 47.09 meters behind the Swedish world record holder Harald Andersson . At the Olympic Games in 1936 , Paul Winter could not qualify for the final. In 1938 at the European Championships in Paris he reached 13th place with 42.68 meters.

Paul Winter was 1.74 m tall and weighed 91 kg during his playing days.
