The men's discus throw at the 1994 European Athletics Championships was held on August 12 and 14, 1994 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

The European champion was the Belarusian Uladzimir Dubrouschtschyk . The Russian vice world champion from 1993 Dmitri Shevchenko won the silver medal. Bronze went to the German Olympic champion in 1992 , World Cup third in 1993 and world record holder Jürgen Schult , who was world champion in 1987 , Olympic champion in 1988 and European champion in 1990 as a thrower for the GDR .

qualification

August 12, 1994

21 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 61.00 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 57.78 m had to be achieved for the final.
