The men's high jump at the European Athletics Championships in 1994 was held on August 7 and 9, 1994 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

European champion was the Norwegian Steinar Hoen . In second place were two athletes who were each rewarded with silver. These were the Polish Olympic third in 1992 and World Cup runner-up in 1993 Artur Partyka and the British World Cup third in 1993, Steve Smith .

Record improvement

European champion Steinar Hoen improved the existing championship record in the final on August 10th by one centimeter to 2.35 m NorwayNorway 

qualification

August 7, 1994

26 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification height for the direct entry into the final was 2.28 m. Nobody even approached this amount after it became clear that this was not necessary for a participation in the final. Three athletes from the two groups had each jumped 2.26 m, twelve other participants had 2.23 m. These fifteen high jumpers were finally qualified for the final (highlighted in light green).
