The men's hammer throw at the European Athletics Championships in 1994 was held on August 10 and 11, 1994 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

The European champion was the Russian thrower Vasily Sidorenko . He won in front of the Belarusian defending champion, Olympic II of 1992 and two-time World Championship runner- 1991 / 1993 Ihar Astapkowitsch . The German World Cup third from 1991 Heinz Weis won the bronze medal.

qualification

August 10, 1994

25 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 76.00 m. Two athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the ten next-placed athletes to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 74.16 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
