The men's hammer throw at the European Athletics Championships 2010 was held on July 27 and 28, 2010 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in the city of Barcelona .
The European champion was the Slovak World Cup - third in 2007 Libor Charfreitag . He won ahead of the Italian Nicola Vizzoni . Bronze went to the Hungarian Krisztián Pars .

qualification
25 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 75.50 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 74.16 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.

With the only throw of the competition over eighty meters, Libor Charfreitag secured the gold medal with his second attempt. After Waleryj Swjatocha had ousted Nicola Vizzoni from the bronze place in the last round, the Italian countered and even sat in front of the Hungarian Krisztián Pars, who had been second.
