Nicola Vizzoni (born November 4, 1973 in Pietrasanta ) is an Italian hammer thrower .

Life

He celebrated his greatest success by winning the silver medal in hammer throw at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . He also won gold medals at both the Universiade in Beijing and the Mediterranean Games in Tunis in 2001 .

He also took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In Athens he finished tenth, in Beijing he missed the final round. He competed in eight World Athletics Championships from 1997 to 2011 , reaching the finals three times. He achieved his best result in fourth at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton . In his first three participations in European Athletics Championships from 1998, he did not get beyond ninth place, which he finished in Gothenburg in 2006 , but in 2010 he was able to win the silver medal in Barcelona .

He was also eleven times Italian hammer throw champion (1998, 2000–2007 and 2009–2010).

Nicola Vizzoni is 1.93 m tall and has a competition weight of 126 kg. The left-hander starts for the GS Fiamme Gialle . In 2000 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic at the officer's level.
