Juryj Viktoravich Schajunou ( Belarusian Юрый Віктаравіч Шаюноў , international after World Athletics spelling English Yury Shayunou ; born  October 22, 1987 in Minsk , Belarusian SSR ) is a Belarusian hammer thrower .

Career

Juryj Schajunou has so far achieved two national and four international successes.

Schajunou celebrated his first medal win on the European stage in 2005 at the Junior European Championships in Kaunas , Lithuania, where he won bronze 74.78 m behind the Hungarian Kristóf Németh (78.85 m) and Yevgeni Aidamirow from Russia (76.73 m). In 2007 Schajunou was able to secure the gold medal at the U23 European Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, with a thrown 74.92 m, ahead of Kristóf Németh (72.56 m) and Marcel Lomnický from Slovakia (72.17 m). Two years later, Schajunou first threw the hammer at the Summer Universiade in Belgrade , Serbia, with 76.92 m further than the competition, before he placed gold again at the U23 European Championships in Kaunas with 78.16 m and both the Russian Anatoli Posdnjakow (72.42 m) and the German Alexander Ziegler (72.32 m) clearly outperformed.

In 2009 and 2013 Schajunou was victorious with 78.76 m and 76.36 m respectively at the Belarusian championships.
